Vietnam e-Visa vs Visa on Arrival - and how to skip the immigration queue
Most nationalities can enter Vietnam two ways: an e-visa applied for online before departure, or a visa on arrival (VOA) collected at the airport. The e-visa is usually the better choice - it is cheaper (about 25 USD), works at every international airport and land border, and removes the extra VOA counter queue where you wait for your approval letter to be stamped.
Whichever visa you use, the bottleneck most travelers actually hit is the immigration hall. At Tan Son Nhat (SGN) and Noi Bai (HAN), arrival queues can run 45-90 minutes at peak hours, especially when several widebody flights land together in the evening.

Rule of thumb: if you arrive on a weekend evening at SGN, travel with children or elderly family, or have a tight onward connection, a fast-track service is worth serious consideration. In quiet early-morning hours you will often clear immigration in minutes without it.
